Basketball Recap: Centennial Now 13-2 over Last 15 Games

Centennial won the last time they faced Bakersfield Christian and things went their way on Saturday too. The Centennial Golden Hawks managed a 48-42 win over the Bakersfield Christian Eagles.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shekinah (Kai) Shaw led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Shaw is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Baldoz, who posted four points and nine boards.

Centennial was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bakersfield Christian only racked up two assists.

Bakersfield Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tia Nichols, who earned six points and 27 rebounds. Those 27 boards gave Nichols a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalaya Miller, who had nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Centennial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Bakersfield Christian, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-12.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 77-25 victory against Garces Memorial on the 28th. Bakersfield Christian has also already played their next matchup (against Ridgeview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
