Basketball Game Preview: Union Area Scotties vs. Ellwood City Wolverine

The Union Area Scotties will take on the Ellwood City Wolverine at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

After dropping their season opener at home, Ellwood City is headed out to face a Scotties team ready to give their home crowd a win. Union Area lost to Moon Area at home by a 40-24 margin on Wednesday. The contest was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but the Scotties couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Ellwood City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Washington, falling 48-14. The Wolverine were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-4.

Despite the loss, Ellwood City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carah Kreitzer posted ten points.

Union Area didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ellwood City when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-46 win.
