The Malvern Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Rosecrans took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Malvern, who comes in off a win.
On Saturday, Malvern made easy work of Wellsville and carried off a 17-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Wade Barkley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Malvern is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 7-14 otherwise. Barkley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Casler, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Dakota Barger was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Malvern hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellsville struck out eight times.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Bishop Rosecrans and Berne Union had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bishops fell 3-0 to the Rockets on Saturday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Bishops were not able to get on the board.
Malvern's record now sits at 9-15. As for Bishop Rosecrans, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.
Malvern got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2022 against Bishop Rosecrans by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Bishops have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
