            Baseball Recap: Brookstone Cougars vs. Columbus Blue Devils        
        
		
        
        
            Brookstone waltzed into their contest  on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Columbus Blue Devils get on the board and left with  a   7-0  victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven  runs or more this season.
 Brennan Neal and  Chanwoo Kim were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  Neal   tossed one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Kim   didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Neal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  a single  earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Neal  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3, while  Kim  scored a  run while going 2-for-2.
 In other batting news,  Mercer Hudson was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last three times he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Maxwell Jones, who  went 3-for-4 with three  RBI and one  double.
 Brookstone was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus only posted a  batting average of  .192.

Brookstone pushed their record up to 13-2 with the  win, which was their 12th straight  at home dating back to last season. As for Columbus,  the  defeat snapped their winning streak at three games  and leaves them with a 12-10 record.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookstone will square off against Port St. Joe at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Columbus, they will face off against Kendrick at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday. Columbus is facing Kendrick at the right time seeing as Kendrick is stuck on  a  12-game losing streak.
