Baseball Game Preview: Stephens County Indians vs. Hebron Christian Lions

For the second straight game, Stephens County will face off against Hebron Christian. Stephens County is taking a road trip to take on Hebron Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stephens County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Hebron Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Stephens County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Hebron Christian on Monday. They fell 6-2 to the Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

For Hebron Christian's part, Dean Livingston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Livingston has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gus Steve, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Thomas Stallworth also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Hebron Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Hebron Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. Stephens County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
