Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newark Memorial). They walked away with a 53-40 victory over the Foothill Falcons on Saturday. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 70-23 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Newark Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angelina Baca led the charge by putting up 19 points. Baca continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mai Weeks, who posted 12 points.

The victory got Newark Memorial back to even at 5-5. As for Foothill, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark Memorial will take on Arroyo Grande in a tournament on Monday. As for Foothill, they will square off against Mission San Jose at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
