Football Recap: O'neill Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Riley Shuman and Robert Trey Murphy + How To Watch

O'Neill lost against Chester-Seward back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Raiders fell 29-21 to the Hambletonians. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

O'Neill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Robert Trey Murphy, who rushed for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Riley Shuman, who picked up 40 receiving yards and one score. Trey Murphy also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Raiders are 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

O'Neill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bradley Davis and Keegan Arbogast. Davis is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

O'Neill's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Chester-Seward, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. O'Neill will square off against Highland at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chester-Seward, they will face off against Saugerties at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sawyers' defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so the Hambletonians' offense will have their work cut out for them.
