Softball Recap: Valor Christian Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valor Christian). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chaparral Wolverines a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Elizabeth Canales looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Abigail Watson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Karis Flannery, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Valor Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valor Christian's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valor Christian will venture away from home to challenge Pueblo South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Colts at the right time seeing as the Colts are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Chaparral, they will head out on the road to square off against Grandview at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
