Baseball Game Preview: Chattahoochee Cougars vs. Johns Creek Gladiators

For the second straight game, Chattahoochee will face off against Johns Creek. Chattahoochee will be playing in front of their home fans against Johns Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Chattahoochee and Johns Creek have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. Chattahoochee lost 9-3 to Johns Creek. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since February 18th.

Andrew Gordon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Chattahoochee's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Jake Crowe was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Morris, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Johns Creek has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. Chattahoochee now has a losing record of 8-9.
