Softball Recap: Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane vs. Irwin County Indians

Fitzgerald extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-27. They lost 21-2 to the Irwin County Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Wednesday.

As for Irwin County, the victory was the 19th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-2. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 14 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Irwin County's part, Lyla Moore was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Moore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Sailor Mixon was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
