The Windsor Owls will head out to take on the Cor Jesu Academy Chargers at 12:45 p.m. on Friday. Windsor's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Cor Jesu Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Windsor can't be too worried about heading out to take on Cor Jesu Academy: they just beat Festus at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Owls walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Tigers on Thursday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cor Jesu Academy). They put the hurt on Mehlville with a sharp 19-1 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ella Sweringen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Sweringen was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Grace Rasmussen and Peyton Chambers did most of the damage at the plate: Rasmussen went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Chambers went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Rasmussen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Beau Belz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Cor Jesu Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Cor Jesu Academy pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Windsor, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
Windsor suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Cor Jesu Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
