Basketball Recap: Lucy Murillo Key Part of a Team Effort in Flashes Win

Fillmore lost to Carpinteria back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Fillmore Flashes snuck past the Carpinteria Warriors with a 36-32 win. The Flashes didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fillmore to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucy Murillo, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and three blocks. Murillo is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacqui Ordonez, who put up eight points and four blocks.

Fillmore's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Carpinteria, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fillmore will take on Hueneme at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carpinteria, they will challenge Malibu at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
