Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sulphur Springs). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Community Braves 65-7. The Wildcats have beaten the Braves the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Braves has come to flipping the script.
Mason Cooper was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 294 yards and six TDs while completing 93.8% of his passes. Those 294 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Dobson Martin handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Sulphur Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mason Horne, Nathan Adams, and Grayson Hardy picked up one apiece.
Despite the defeat, Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ranti Wilson rushed for 107 yards and one score on only 14 carries.
Sulphur Springs' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Community, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
