Football Game Preview: Biglerville Canners vs. Hanover Nighthawks

The Biglerville Canners are taking a road trip to face off against the Hanover Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hanover took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Biglerville, who comes in off a win.

Biglerville will bounce into Friday's game after beating York Catholic, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Canners blew past the Fighting Irish 35-0 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Canners considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

Aidan Hoffman produced another solid effort rushing for 143 yards and three scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Levi McCleaf made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Biglerville proved: they limited York Catholic to a paltry 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Gabe Frey for the heroic effort on defense: he. Biglerville's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.

Biglerville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. McCleaf led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Hanover was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 32-31 to Delone Catholic. The Nighthawks haven't had much luck with the Squires recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Hanover's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Biglerville, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Biglerville beat Hanover 7-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Canners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
