Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets vs. St. Genevieve Valiants

The Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets will face off against the St. Genevieve Valiants at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Sacred Heart of Jesus came up short against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy and fell 49-37. The Comets have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Sacred Heart of Jesus' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Michelle Canete, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds, and Jazaleen Salazar, who earned ten points along with six boards and five assists. That's the most rebounds Salazar has posted since back in January of 2024. Cynthia Najar was another key player, putting up six points along with eight boards and five blocks.

Meanwhile, St. Genevieve entered their tilt with Paraclete on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 50-34 win over the Spirits.

St. Genevieve has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Sacred Heart of Jesus, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
