Baseball Game Preview: Tattnall Square Academy Trojans vs. Piedmont Academy Cougars

The Tattnall Square Academy Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Piedmont Academy Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tattnall Square Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Piedmont Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tattnall Square Academy can't be too worried about heading out to take on Piedmont Academy: they just beat Stratford Academy at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Eagles on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

The team relied heavily on Marquez Wilson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Wyatt Still was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Piedmont Academy didn't have quite enough to beat First Presbyterian Day on Friday and fell 5-4. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zach Simmons put in work no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Tumlin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Piedmont Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Tattnall Square Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tattnall Square Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Piedmont Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
