Recap: Aquinas Falcons vs. Vista Murrieta Broncos
The Aquinas Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Vista Murrieta with a sharp 58-38 win on Saturday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-11.
Aquinas was led to victory by Madeleine De Kodia and Breanna Bates. De Kodia scored nine points along with seven steals, while Bates scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Perrine Allou was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
Nyah Brown and Alyssa Newby certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Brown scored ten points along with nine rebounds, while Newby scored six points. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played.
Vista Murrieta struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Aquinas racked up 11 assists.
Aquinas is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Vista Murrieta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.
Aquinas' road trip will continue as they head out to face Linfield Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Linfield Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 865th, while Aquinas is ranked 148th). As for Vista Murrieta, they will be playing at home against Murrieta Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
