Baseball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dougherty Trojans. The Golden Tornadoes were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Calvin Grant made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Talen Pugh, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Dougherty, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

While Monroe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
