Softball Game Preview: Canton Tigers vs. Monroe City Panthers

The Canton Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Monroe City Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

On Tuesday, Canton was able to grind out a solid victory over Marion County, taking the game 9-4. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monroe City). Everything went their way against Community on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-5 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Monroe City's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Canton, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Canton couldn't quite finish off Monroe City in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
