1. Eden Prairie
2016 record: 11-2
Head coach: Mike Grant

The Eagles finished AAAAAA runners-up in 2016, but return a host of contributors from last season's success.
Cole Kramer is back at quarterback after throwing for 904 yards and 12 scores in an impressive sophomore campaign. He's joined by rising junior Solo Falaniko at running back. Falaniko ran for just over 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Cornerback Benny Sapp returns for his senior season as does 6-foot-3, 280 pound center Joe Schreiber.

2. Totino-Grace (Fridley)
2016 record: 13-0
Head coach: Jeffrey Ferguson

The AAAAAA champions lost their quarterback (Kyle Halverson) and two 1,000-yard runners (Gayflor Flomo and Ivan Burlak) to graduation and must reload.

Peyton Schuler looks to step into the signal caller slot, while wide receiver/defensive back Ryan Suggs returns for his senior season.

All-State Zach Collins (6-3, 300) anchors both lines at tackle and defensive tackle and Joe Linders returns at inside linebacker.

3. Elk River
2016 record: 13-0
Head coach: Steve Hamilton

Rising senior quarterback Mitchell Stroh leads the AAAAA champion Elks into 2017. Elk River lost its two tops runners in Nick Rice (2,154 yards and 25 TDs) and Sam Gibas (1,330 yards and 22 TDs), but Sherrod Kpahn looks to fill the void after running for 829 yards and seven scores as a junior in 2016.

4. Champlin Park (Champlin)
2016 record: 8-4
Head coach: Mike Korton

Quarterback Bennett Otto should be back to lead the Rebels after suffering a collarbone injury in the 2016 postseason.

Ernest Worjloh is back for his senior season at running back, though Champlin Park lost two-way senior wideout/corner Deante Bronson to graduation.

Treyvon Cahalan is an imposing figure on the line at 6-3, 290 pounds.

5. Owatonna
2016 record: 9-3
Head coach: Jeff Williams

A trio of skill players return for the Huskies, but Owatonna must replenish its line.

Abe Havelka is back for his senior season at quarterback and will be joined by running back Jason Williamson and wideout Alex Raichle.

The Huskies could use a big year from linemen like Terrell Conner and Kadynn Mulert.
