Basketball Game Preview: Northgate Broncos vs. Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles

The Northgate Broncos will face off against the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Clayton Valley Charter will be up against a hot Northgate squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Northgate took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 57-30 victory over Las Lomas. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Knights are ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northgate got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Myhr out in front who posted 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hana Neuman, who put up 16 points.

Northgate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, after only 25 points in their last contest, Clayton Valley Charter made sure to put some points up on the board against Benicia on Tuesday. Everything went Clayton Valley Charter's way against Benicia as Clayton Valley Charter made off with a 71-46 victory. The Ugly Eagles pushed the score to 59-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Northgate's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Northgate came out on top in a nail-biter against Clayton Valley Charter in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 41-39. Will Northgate repeat their success, or does Clayton Valley Charter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
