Basketball Recap: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Triton Hawks

Harnett Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 45-29 bruising from the Triton Hawks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-27 back in November of 2024.

It was another big night for Ja'Niah Smith, who went 8 for 15 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals for Triton. Nashara McNeil-Watlington was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five boards and four steals.

Harnett Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Triton, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

Harnett Central and Hobbton will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Harnett Central is facing Hobbton at the right time seeing as Hobbton is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Triton, they will host E.E. Smith at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Azariah Brunson and McNeil-Watlington.
