Baseball Game Preview: Union Grove Wolverines vs. Locust Grove Wildcats

The Union Grove Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Locust Grove Wildcats at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Union Grove's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Locust Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Union Grove's victory against Stockbridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Union Grove had just enough and edged out Stockbridge 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted against the Tigers since March 2, 2018.

Meanwhile, Locust Grove got themselves on the board against Hampton on Monday, but Hampton never followed suit. They blew past the Hornets 12-0. Considering the Wildcats have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Union Grove's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Locust Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Union Grove suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Locust Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Union Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
