Baseball Recap: Deerfield-Windsor Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Deerfield-Windsor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Valwood Valiants by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Valiants walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

David Hutchins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Boyd Pollock, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Collins Clark, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Deerfield-Windsor's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Valwood, they moved to 12-7 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Valwood will face off against Grace Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Deerfield-Windsor will be paying especially close attention to the Valiants' matchup: after the Valiants face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Deerfield-Windsor again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
