Baseball Recap: Mendon Unity Find Success

Mendon Unity posted their closest win since April 9, 2025 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Princeville Princes, sneaking past 5-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Jayce Huntley was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Huntley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Frese, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Frese has posted since back in April of 2025.

The victory got Mendon Unity back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Mendon Unity will head out on the road to square off against Monroe City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Princeville, they have already played their next contest, an 8-3 win against Galena on the 21st.
