Football Recap: Rio Grande Comes Up Short

Rio Grande's last matchup with Del Norte could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Ravens came up short against the Knights, falling 32-6. The Ravens have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Isaac Alatriste and Keandre Wyatt. Alatriste rushed for 178 yards and one touchdown while Wyatt rushed for 79 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries. Wyatt also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Rio Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Del Norte, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Rio Grande and Del Norte will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Ravens see the field they'll take on Los Alamos at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Del Norte, their break will end when they face Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th.
