Football Recap: Klein Cain Hurricanes vs. Magnolia West Mustangs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tomball, Klein Cain was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Magnolia West Mustangs 62-34. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hurricanes' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Mustangs are ranked 845th).
Klein Cain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jah'Rin Louis, who rushed for 165 yards and three scores on only 12 carries. Louis really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. Eyan Johnson also helped out as he racked up 159 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Klein Cain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 422 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 20 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Johnson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Magnolia West lost, don't look at Anthony Meraz. Despite the final result, he rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and also caught one TD. Shawn Brown was another key player, having thrown for 291 yards and two touchdowns.
