Football Recap: Bishop Takes a Loss

Bishop was the 20-13 winner over Rio Hondo when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Badgers were dealt a 55-20 loss at the hands of the Bobcats on Friday.

Despite the loss, Bishop still got an impressive performance from Aidan Andalon, who rushed for 67 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Rio Hondo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mario Lopez, who rushed for 150 yards and five TDs. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Lopez, who rushed for 32 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Bishop's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Rio Hondo, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Bishop and Rio Hondo will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Badgers see the field they'll take on Santa Gertrudis Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Rio Hondo, their break will end when they face Falfurrias at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
