Baseball Recap: Treutlen's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Treutlen's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Jenkins County War Eagles by a score of 6-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gavin Wood looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Treutlen's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 5-2 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Gavin Bailey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Brooks, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win got Treutlen back to even at 11-11. As for Jenkins County, they moved to 9-15 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Treutlen will have a chance to go back-to-back against the War Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
