Football Game Preview: Donna Redskins vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders

The Donna Redskins will square off against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Donna needed a bit of extra time to put away Donna North. They secured a 27-21 W over the Chiefs. The win continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won nine in a row.

Donna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joel Duran led the charge by rushing for 106 yards and one score on only nine carries. Duran's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Aden Coronado was another key player, rushing for 66 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Donna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North beat Harlingen South 48-35 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Raiders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Hawks are ranked 679th).

Donna better keep an eye on Ethan Guerra. He was instrumental in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's win, rushing for 327 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Guerra's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 16th straight game with at least 102 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another passer making a difference was Daren Garcia, who threw for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Donna's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Donna was taken down by Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North 48-11 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Redskins were down 45-0.
