Basketball Recap: Gianna Benitez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead University Pathways Medical Magnet over Panorama

University Pathways Medical Magnet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost to the Panorama Pythons on the road by a 55-37 margin.

Several University Pathways Medical Magnet players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gianna Benitez, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. That was a full 48.6% of University Pathways Medical Magnet's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Gonzalez Ortiz, who had two points and eight rebounds.

Panorama's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from YESSENIA QUEZADA, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was VALERY QUEZADA, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

University Pathways Medical Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Panorama, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

University Pathways Medical Magnet won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sun Valley Magnet at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Panorama, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against San Fernando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
