Basketball Recap: West Comes Up Short

If West was riding high fresh off their 88-66 takedown of Roy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers were beaten by the Highland Rams 80-42 on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lester Falatea, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Matthew Fox was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Highland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Drisdom, who shot 46% from the field en route to 16 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Drisdom continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Soren Ries, who went 6-for-7 on his way to 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

West's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Highland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

West has already played their next contest, a 67-66 win against West Jordan on the 2nd. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to face off against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams will be up against the Redhawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.45 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
