Recap: Kennedy Thunderbirds vs. Wasco Tigers
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post 12 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Kennedy Thunderbirds proved on Monday. They blew past Wasco 57-32. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Kennedy has managed all season.
It was another big night for Kayleen Maes, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyne Maduena, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, Wasco still got an impressive performance from Genesis Epinosa, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Epinosa has scored all season. Angelina Romero was another key contributor, scoring three points along with four steals.
Kennedy pushed their record up to 7-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Wasco, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on January 11th. Foothill is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Wasco, they will head out on the road to face off against Chavez at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
