Soccer Game Preview: Gilroy vs. Branham

The Gilroy Mustangs will square off against the Branham Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilroy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Gilroy's offense. They came up short against Leigh on Thursday, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Longhorns are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Branham, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Piedmont Hills on Tuesday.

Amy Barrientos and Audrey Baker scored all three of Branham's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Branham's win bumped their record up to 11-2-4. As for Gilroy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8-2.
