Basketball Recap: South Fork Takes a Loss

South Fork lost against Ferndale back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The South Fork Cubs were dealt a 53-14 defeat at the hands of the Ferndale Wildcats. The match marked the Cubs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Ferndale can attribute much of their success to Tinnley Pidgeon, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Michaela Ellsmore, who earned 11 points.

South Fork has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Ferndale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

South Fork and Ferndale could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. South Fork (ranked 1006th) will meet Hoopa Valley (ranked 383rd) at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Similarly, Ferndale will take on St. Bernard's at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st down 188 places (284 vs. 96).
