Basketball Game Preview: Diller-Odell Griffin vs. Johnson-Brock Eagles

Diller-Odell hasn't had much luck against Johnson-Brock recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Griffin will take on the Eagles in a holiday battle. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Diller-Odell is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Sterling by a score of 47-40 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Griffin.

Hailee Miller was the offensive standout of the game as she posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Berkelee Beekman, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Johnson-Brock on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Falls City out of the water with a 75-24 final score. The Eagles pushed the score to 59-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had no chance of recovering from.

Johnson-Brock's win came from a few key players Diller-Odell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kasie Knippelmeyer, who went 7-for-12 on her way to 20 points and three steals. Knippelmeyer is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Behrends, who shot 78% from the field en route to 19 points and five rebounds.

Johnson-Brock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Johnson-Brock back to even at 2-2. As for Diller-Odell, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-2.

Diller-Odell came up short against Johnson-Brock when the teams last played back in February, falling 39-34. Can the Griffin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
