Soccer Game Preview: Linden vs. Summerville

The Linden Lions will challenge the Summerville Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Linden's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Linden's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Riverbank out 1-0. Katie Schallberger had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Lions.

Meanwhile, Summerville came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.8 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bullfrogs with a sharp 4-0 victory. Kylie Peterson had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Bears got from the refs.

Summerville's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three contests. As for Linden, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3-1 and their overall record up to 5-8-2.
