Baseball Recap: Lanier Comes Up Short

Lanier had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-20 to make it five. They lost 15-0 to the Cherokee Bluff Bears. If the Longhorns were looking for revenge after losing 4-2 to the Bears when the teams met back in February of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cherokee Bluff, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

For Cherokee Bluff's part, Logan Robinson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Robinson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cherokee Bluff got a massive performance out of Ethan England, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs England has posted since back in March. Bubba Coleman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Lanier didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-0 loss against Hillgrove on the 15th. As for Cherokee Bluff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-4 win against Loganville on the 15th.
