Lamar Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Meridian HomeSchool FLYERS a 17-0 shutout.
Halle Odum made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Odum was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Bella Crosby was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Kara Rayborn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Lamar Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .182.
Looking ahead, Meridian HomeSchool will face off against Sylva Bay Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lamar Christian will be paying especially close attention to the FLYERS' matchup: after the FLYERS face off against Kemper Academy, they'll take on Lamar Christian again at 6:30 p.m. on the 19th.
