Basketball Recap: Naliyah Sefidi Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

The third road match was the charm for Monte Vista, as they earned their first road win of the season. They managed a 62-58 win over the Carlsbad Lancers on Monday.

Monte Vista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naliyah Sefidi, who almost dropped a triple-double on 29 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. With that strong performance, Sefidi is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Juliette Leonard was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine boards.

Monte Vista's record now sits at 6-8. As for Carlsbad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Vista will square off against Pinole Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Carlsbad, they will head out to take on Cathedral Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
