Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. Harbor Pirates
Aptos is 10-0 against Harbor since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Aptos Mariners just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Harbor Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Aptos suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-32 walloping at the hands of Menlo School. Aptos has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Abby Sherwood, who scored two points along with seven rebounds. Gabby Wickham was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Harbor's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 54-33 loss at the hands of Soquel. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Harbor has suffered against Soquel since January 14, 2020.
Gillian Hull was Harbor's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Aptos' defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Harbor, they bumped their record down to 6-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Aptos strolled past Harbor when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 41-22. Will Aptos repeat their success, or does Harbor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
