Basketball Recap: West's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of nine wins, West's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mira Costa Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Mustangs are ranked 26th).

West's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Mira Costa, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

West will head out to face off against Camarillo at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Camarillo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully West likes a good challenge. As for Mira Costa, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Esperanza at 10:30 a.m. on January 4, 2025.
