Recap: McNair Eagles vs. Chavez Titans

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Christian Brothers, the McNair Eagles were happy to have found some success on Monday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over Chavez. That result was just more of the same for these two, as McNair also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Kalysa Phanhsavang continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Do, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.

When it comes to explaining why Chavez lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zalika White. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points along with two steals. That was a full 48% of Chavez's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Paulina Sanchez, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Chavez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McNair only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

McNair has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. As for Chavez, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McNair will face off against Bear Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully McNair focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Monday. As for Chavez, they will head out on the road to square off against Stagg at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stagg will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Chavez surely won't give up without a fight.
