Basketball Recap: Mercer Takes a Loss

Mercer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 56-19 loss at the hands of Kennedy Catholic. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Kennedy Catholic are ranked 93rd).

Layke Fields continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Kennedy Catholic, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Fields is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 14 games she's played. Tori Harvey was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven rebounds.

Mercer's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Kennedy Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Mercer will host Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Kennedy Catholic has already played their next contest (against Harbor Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
