Softball Game Preview: NEN vs. Ponca Indians

NEN is a perfect 7-0 against Ponca since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. NEN will host Ponca at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (NEN has three straight victories, Ponca has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

NEN took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Central City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. NEN sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Central City on Saturday. That's two games straight that NEN has won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Mady Dolliver, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Ponca fell victim to Pierce and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 11-0 to the Bluejays.

Ponca's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for NEN, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9.

Everything went NEN's way against Ponca in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as NEN made off with a 12-0 win. Will NEN repeat their success, or does Ponca has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
