Baseball Game Preview: Rabun County Wildcats vs. Elbert County Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Rabun County will face off against Elbert County. The Wildcats will host the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rabun County is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Elbert County just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

For Elbert County's part, Haven Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Adams has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Amabile, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyvis McClendon, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Elbert County is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Rabun County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
