Basketball Game Preview: San Diego Cavers vs. Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns

Two dominant guards in Shanti Glenn and Camille Dake are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The San Diego Cavers will be playing at home against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, San Diego was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-48 to Morse. The Cavers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

San Diego's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Glenn, who posted 16 points, and Gianna Woodson, who had 16 points. Glenn is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Seniaah Simms, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Rancho Buena Vista hadn't done well against Poway recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Rancho Buena Vista slipped by Poway 52-51. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Titans are ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rancho Buena Vista pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for San Diego, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
