Football Recap: Morrow Takes a Loss

Morrow extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took a blow against the Newnan Cougars, falling 34-6. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Cougars are ranked 82nd).

As for Newnan, their win bumped their record up to 4-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newnan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shawn Grier, who rushed for 86 yards and one score. Grier was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Banks Barnett, who threw for 121 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight passes.

Looking ahead, Morrow will challenge Lovejoy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 10.2 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Newnan, they will venture away from home to take on Langston Hughes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
