Basketball Recap: Jersey Shore Comes Up Short

If Jersey Shore was feeling good fresh off their 57-12 takedown of Midd-West last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jersey Shore Bulldogs fell 57-48 to the Troy Trojans on Saturday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Jersey Shore still got an impressive performance from Peyton Dincher, who posted 30 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Dincher has become a key player for Jersey Shore: the team is 13-2 when she posts at least 15 points, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Schall, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points.

Troy had a senior duo take command as Kailyn Sterling went 9-for-13 on her way to 23 points and six boards and Alyssa Parks dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Sterling is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Giana Renzi, who put up ten points.

Jersey Shore's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Troy, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Jersey Shore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-51 loss against Loyalsock Township on the 10th. As for Troy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-34 win against Wellsboro on the 11th.
