Alexander gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chapel Hill Panthers a 16-0 shutout. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 9-3 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Ebbie Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Simmons was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Alexander got a massive performance out of Alexis May, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Smith, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
